Fan Art Contest Rules
1.Eligibility and Dates
The Oban Star-Racers 20th Anniversary fan art contest is free and open to everyone, through January 31, 2027, inclusive. Sav! The World reserves the right to extend this period, with any extension announced on the website.
Participants under the age of 18 must provide a signed consent form from a parent or legal guardian, covering their participation in the contest and the uses of their artwork described in Section 5.
2.Artwork Submission
Artwork must be submitted digitally, using the submission form available on this page.
Each submission must contain one artwork. Participants may submit multiple artworks by completing a separate form for each one.
Artworks created before the contest are also welcome, even if they have already been published elsewhere, provided their creators have the necessary rights to submit them.
Artists whose works have already been published in the fan art gallery on the official ObanStarRacers.com website may also participate, but must submit their artworks again using the contest submission form.
3.Techniques and Formats
Drawings of all kinds and physical creations (such as sculptures or models) are accepted. Landscape-oriented images are preferred. Physical creations must be submitted as photographs; no physical objects should be sent.
Files must comply with the accepted formats and size limits specified in the submission form.
4.Submission Requirements
All types of drawings and photographs of physical creations are welcome, provided that they:
・are clearly related to the universe and characters of Oban Star-Racers;
・are original (images generated entirely or partially using artificial intelligence, as well as simple reproductions of existing images, will not be accepted);
・respect the family-friendly nature of the series and do not contain clearly offensive or inappropriate material;
・have been created by the person submitting them, who must also have the necessary rights to any photograph provided, where applicable.
5.Artists’ Rights and Publication Authorization
Participants retain their copyright in the original elements of their creations, subject to Sav! The World’s pre-existing rights to the universe, characters, and visual elements of Oban Star-Racers.
By submitting their artwork (whether a drawing or a photograph of a physical creation), participants grant Sav! The World non-exclusive permission to reproduce and display it:
・on ObanStarRacers.com and the series’ official social media accounts, as well as on the social media platform selected for the public vote, in connection with the contest and its promotion, including after the contest has ended, notably as part of an archive gallery on the website;
・in a potential Oban Star-Racers 20th Anniversary fan art book, including if that artbook is printed, sold, or offered as part of a crowdfunding campaign.
This authorization is valid worldwide for a period of ten years from the date of submission.
Published artworks will be credited to their creators using their real names or chosen pseudonyms.
Not all submitted artworks will necessarily be published. Sav! The World reserves the right to select which artworks will appear on the various platforms and in the artbook.
6.Publication of Artworks, Voting and Selection of Finalists
A selection of submitted artworks will be published progressively in the existing fan art gallery on the official ObanStarRacers.com website throughout the contest.
Once the submission period has ended, Sav! The World’s team will shortlist 27 artworks from among all entries received. Publication in the website’s fan art gallery does not guarantee inclusion in this shortlist.
These 27 shortlisted artworks will then be presented in individual posts on a social media platform chosen by Sav! The World. The 27 artworks will be posted in quick succession, in a randomly determined order, to ensure comparable voting conditions. At the end of the voting period, the three artworks receiving the most likes will be selected as the public vote finalists.
Three key members of Oban Star-Racers’ artistic team will then each select two artworks from among the remaining 24 entries. Their six choices must all be different, bringing the total number of finalists to nine.
Finally, these three members of the artistic team will jointly select the “Grand Prize” of the Oban 20th Anniversary contest from among the nine finalists.
The selected platform, voting schedule and procedures will be announced on the website before voting begins. In the event of a tie affecting the selection of the three public vote finalists, Sav! The World will decide between the artworks concerned. Sav! The World may disregard votes that are clearly fraudulent or irregular in order to ensure a fair contest.
7.Finalist Rewards
The nine finalist artworks will be prominently featured on the website and, if the project goes ahead, in the Oban 20th Anniversary artbook.
Their creators may also be invited to write a short introduction about themselves and their connection to the series, for possible inclusion in the artbook.
Additional rewards, including 20th Anniversary goodies and a personally signed congratulatory message from the creator of Oban, are also being considered for the finalists. The nature and allocation of these additional rewards will be announced before public voting begins.
8.Artbook Project
In addition to the nine finalists, Sav! The World may select additional artworks from among the contest submissions for an Oban Star-Racers 20th Anniversary fan art book.
This selection will be made by the Sav! The World team, taking the results of the public vote into consideration.
The production of this artbook will depend on the successful development of the planned crowdfunding project.
9.General Provisions
Above all, this contest is intended to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Oban Star-Racers and bring fans together to share their passion for the series. Participation is free and does not guarantee publication, selection as a finalist, or receipt of a prize.
Sav! The World reserves the right to make reasonable adjustments to the contest and related projects if circumstances require, while respecting these rules and participants’ rights. Decisions concerning the organization of the contest and the selection of artworks rest with Sav! The World.
Any significant changes will be announced on the website.
